Family Vacations: Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival

Shutterstock Food, fun, and more can be had at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival.

Football fans who visit the Hall of Fame in early August, just before induction time, can score extra points for fun at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, a ten-day celebration of everything football. To kick it off, nearly 2,000 children line the streets of Canton, Ohio, and pass an official football along a route more than two miles long, which ends at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The same ball is then used in the AFC-NFC Hall of Fame Game later that week.

The festival features an array of foods, including a competition among rib vendors from all over the United States. Looking to burn off some extra energy? There's an assortment of activities, including seven football inflatables and a children's entertainment area that has a rock-climbing wall, a bungee jump, kiddie rides, and more.

A parade features spectacular floats, marching bands, helium balloons, clowns, and costumed characters, plus returning Hall of Famers and the current class of enshrinees and their presenters. Later, the nation's top drum and bugle corps perform. Plus, there's a hot-air balloon event, concerts, and fireworks. The highlights of the festival are the Hall of Fame Game and the induction of new Hall of Famers.
