John F. Kennedy's road to the
presidency began in a modest
house just outside of Boston.
The piano that was a wedding present to Rose Kennedy sits in the living room, where the family often gathered to sing. Much of the dining room furniture is original, and even the napkin rings, forks, and spoons on the children's table are the very ones used by Joseph Jr. and John (the utensils are marked with their initials). Hanging in Rose Kennedy's study are a framed Mother's Day poem from her children, family photographs, and wedding and birth announcements.
Upstairs, the master bedroom is arranged as it was the spring day that John F. Kennedy was born. The bassinet in the nursery held Rose Kennedy's babies, as well as many of her visiting grandchildren.
Within a short walk from the house are other sites associated with John Kennedy: the Naples Road Residence where he lived from ages four to ten; St. Aidan's Catholic Church, where the children were baptized and Joseph Jr. and John were altar boys; and the Dexter School, attended by the Kennedy boys.

- Until September 30, 2007: Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Guided tours every half hour from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; self-guided audio tour available from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
- After September 30, 2007: Closed until spring. Call in late winter for opening date.
Admission: $3 per adult, free for children 17 and under
