A lama makes a mandala sand painting for an enshrining ceremony at the Youning Temple in Qinghai Province, China. In a mandala sand painting, the grains of sand are laid on a flat platform with special tools, resulting in a work of art that usually takes a monk a couple of weeks or months to finish.
